Whoever wins tomorrow, an awesome truth has emerged clear - Mr. Elon Musk is perhaps the gutsiest guy on the planet. Nobody even comes close.
For context, it must be noted that a few of Mr. Musk's businesses, notably SpaceX and Tesla, run in tandem with the US government. Now a lot of people think that this means those companies exist solely because of some special favours from the government, but that's not true. SpaceX and Tesla exist because they're vastly (and undeniably) superior to all their competitors out there. For example, Boeing is also in the race for space explorations. It's a much older and bigger company. But they're so incompetent that their sole space exploration mission failed, so embarrassingly that their two stranded astronauts had to be rescued by none other than SpaceX. This is despite Boeing having gotten $4.2 Billion from the US government for the same project (while SpaceX got $2.6 Billion).
In other words, Tesla and SpaceX are so good at their job (while also being so cost efficient) that the US government has no option but to take their services. That's why they exist.
Having said that, there's still a lot of tricky play involving government contracts and subsidies, which requires very delicate management of relationships with the political powers of the country. In other words, it's not in Mr. Musk's best interests to fouck with US politics at all.
Then why this mess?
Let's say Mr. Musk is politically enthusiastic (like most businessmen who want their interests served), wouldn't it have made sense for him to just keep quiet, or be "politically correct" (like most industrialists), just so his risks were hedged?
Why the fuss?
Some critics say he's incapable of keeping quiet because he's an attention hungry narcissist. Well, okay. Then why would he not support the Democrats? After all, US politics is in the pocket of the Democrat party.
They're the big goliaths of the ecosystem. Democrats have the Big Tech, Big Media, Big Banks, Big Pharma, the Military Industrial complex, Academia and Hollywood in their pocket. Their pull is so strong that at their behest, the entire Big Tech ecosystem shut down the social media accounts of the sitting president of the United States without notice. They kicked him off like a dog, and nobody could do anything about it.
Why not side with the winning team?
After all, Mr. Musk was a registered Democrat who voted for Obama, twice. Why did he join a cynical, egocentric guy like Trump, who couldn't even keep his Twitter account, and was openly bashing him just a few months ago? Everyone knows Trump can't be controlled. His first term proved it.
What kind of "opportunism" is this?
Simply put, it's not. It's courage filled to the brim in the face of extreme risk and discomfort. It's heroism, straight out of an Ayn Rand book.
Whatever happens tomorrow. I hope this isn't ignored or forgotten. Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of global politics. Probably never will.
